Postcards, Flyers, & Yard Signs

Paper flyers still work great as well as yard signs to remind busy parents about any fundraiser! Here are some promotional activities that would count towards your required 10:

  1. Set up a Yard Sign (each sign is worth 1 activity point) - we have some available for pick up in Mohnton. Email heather@doitlocalberks.com to pick one up.

  2. Send home the provided postcards with students at school. (1 activity point)

  3. Pass out provided postcards at a football game or another school function. (1 activity point)

  4. Pass out provided postcards at a local employer (or admin building) who likes to support your organization and pick up would be at a convenient location for their employees. (Worth 1 activity point per building)

  5. Create a personal flyer with your PopUp details on it & a QR code to send home via email school district wide/ organization wide. (Class Dojo & other school communication methods that accept flyers would be good too!) (Worth 1 activity point for medium)

  6. Create and hang a flier about your PopUp on local bulletin boards, in bathrooms, on heavily used doorways, (libraries, grocery stores, etc) with a QR code. (Worth 1 activity point)

Email & Social Media Ideas

Don’t wait to start sharing! Build awareness for the event now, so when the “last reminders to order” communications come out people are ready to order.

  1. Create a Facebook Event for the Fundraiser. Facebook Events are awesome because if people say they are "interested" or "going", Facebook automatically reminds them to order. (Worth 1 activity point)

    • If you take the time to invite a lot of people, you can keep the event page live and reuse it by simply changing the date for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th PopUps. (I recommend doing monthly PopUps in a fundraising season).

    • I recommend trying to get to 300 people with your FB Event. This is a great task to give an intern or high school/ college volunteer!

      • Reminder to use image provided.

  2. Post the FB Event on your organization's Facebook Page with the 3 main details spelled out in the text. Consider adding a small blurb about what the funds are being used for (if there's a specific cause! For example, new uniforms). (Worth 1 activity point)

    • Tag people in the comments of this post to make it start circulating at a higher rate through Facebook's algorithms. Individual comments with personal notes to people asking them to consider ordering AND share the post on their page is the best! **MAKE sure the post on the organization's page is marked public so that everyone can share it.

  3. Share the post from your organization's Facebook Page on your personal Facebook page and/or personal Facebook Story. (Worth 1 activity point)

    • Consider adding a blurb in your personal post that tells your friends what you ordered from the Family Meal selections & why this fundraiser means something to you! (IE: I love the Chicken Parm! It comes with pasta, a huge salad, and bread.)

  4. Create an Event for the Fundraiser in the Nextdoor App to reach those who aren't on Facebook but are in the hyper local area of the PopUp Location. Include the image attached and complete details! (Neighbors love to walk over to pick up dinners … talk about convenience!) (Worth 1 activity point)

  5. Emails

    • Email your entire email list! (Worth 1 activity point)

    • Include a blurb about the PopUp in your signature or at the bottom of every email sent. (Worth 1 activity point)

    • PRO TIP: Be sure to tell people to forward the email to others who may be interested in taking a night off from cooking!

    • Send at least 3 emails about the event. (Worth 1 activity point each email)

  6. Facebook Reminders for 2 weeks:

    • I recommend scheduling 6-10 posts on the organization’s Facebook and Insta pages. (Worth 1 activity point each)

    • Then personally share those post each time on your personal page (and encourage other supporters to also share on their personal pages) (Worth 1 activity point each share)

    • Of course, sharing the posts in local parent Facebook groups, yard sale groups, and other community groups is also a great idea to reach and remind new supporters! (Worth 1 activity point each share)

    • Make sure to post a few fun things in the Facebook event for the PopUp! (1 Activity point each) Like …

      • what meal you plan to order.

      • How picking up dinner at the same time sports practice ends is a win-win!

      • How many more orders you need to reach your goal, etc.

    • PRO TIP: Vary the times you are posting to reach different people.

  7. Linked In - share once (maybe twice) on Linked In and include WHY you are raising funds. (1 Activity point for being active with it on LinkedIn)

  8. Twitter - share reminders to order daily. Vary times. Include a fun fact on why they should want to support your organization’s fundraising. Mix it up. (1 Activity point for being active with it on Twitter)

  9. Instagram - share photos of meals and links to order at least every other day. (1 Activity point for being active with it on Instagram)

Personal Text Messages

Personal Text Messages with the order link are by far the best way to ensure a successful PopUp! Every other method of communication serves as a good reminder to order, but the personal text usually makes it super meaningful and easy for your supporters!

  • Send a personal text (with the 3 main details) to those who are a part of the fundraising organization right away letting them know that your fundraiser is live - and that they should place their order. After they see how easy it is, they will be more comfortable sharing the fundraiser!

  • Text Messaging (worth 1 activity point per time you text over 20 people)

    • Definitely text personally the closest 20 supporters. Text right away when ordering is live, then again on the last day to order if they haven’t ordered yet.

    • Also consider a text platform to reach all busy parents.

The 3 Main Details to include in every communication!

In every communication (text, email, social media post, or flyer make sure to type out clearly in the body of the communication these 3 important details. (Remember not everyone opens attachments, reads images, etc.)

  1. Restaurant, Date, & Pick up time:

  2. Easy Curbside Pickup

  3. Preorders only! Place your order easily online using our event link. (& Include your link).
